E-TEAM Brazil News Archive 2007 Safe at home
The team arrived home (to Nashville, anyway) safely on Wednesday, June 27, after an enjoyably uneventful return trip. E-TEAM Brazil was evidently one of the few E-TEAMs to arrive home on time as scheduled.
Tuesday morning in Campinas was spent packing and beginning to say our extended goodbyes. For lunch on Tuesday, we went to a churrascaria (all you can eat barbecue/steak house). After lunch, the goodbyes really got serious, and quite tearful. Eventually, we boarded our bus from Campinas to the airport in Sao Paulo. After checking in, we enjoyed our last meal in Brazil, at McDonald's, and then said our final goodbyes to our host Missionaries Kenneth and Rejane Eagleton. We had no problems in the Sao Paulo airport, nor in the Houston airport when we re-entered the country.
We had time to shower and take a brief rest at the Bible College Wednesday morning. Then, after lunch, we had a two-hour debriefing session, and then a little time to prepare for our presentation during the closing program.
The closing program was very moving. After some worship and praise time, each E-TEAM presented a brief summary of their experience. International Missions General Director James Forlines addressed the teams, and then the team leaders returned their country's flags, to be packed away until next year.
God is so gracious to us. Not only did he allow E-TEAM Brazil 2007 to do some things that will certainly have an impact in eternity, He also allowed us to see immediate and significant fruit from our activities while we were in Brazil. There's no doubt that God assembled the leaders and students that He choose specifically for E-TEAM Brazil 2007. I'm certain that none of us will forget our teammates, our new friends in Brazil, or the miracles that God allowed us to participate in. Thank you to all who allowed your children to go to Brazil, to those who prayed for us, to those who provided financial support to the students, to the International Missions personnel who made the trip possible, and most of all to our host Missionaries, Kenneth and Rejane Eagleton. I can't think the Eagletons enough. They arranged comfortable, hospitable accomodations for all of us. They planned a schedule that allowed us to pack as much as possible into our time in Brazil: ministry, evangelism, relationships, church services, cultural activities, site-seeing, shopping, and much more. Thank you Kenneth and Rejane for all you did for us, and for sharing your passion for Brazil with us.
In His Service,
Rodney and Mary Yerby
