E-TEAM Cuba News Archive 2008 E-TEAM CUBA 2008 READY TO GO!!
Hello from our Cuba E-TEAMers! Our great team consists of Deana Barwick, Chanel Bonds, Haylee Hubbard, Shane Lester, Dakota Mott, Ben Osterkamp, and Becky Wilson, with leaders Sam and June McVay. We have been in training for the past 5 days at Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, TN. Training week has helped us prepare for our ministry in Cuba. We have learned two songs in Spanish (Come, Now is the Time to Worship and Mighty to Serve) and have also been working on a mime called "La Montana," which is a drama of Biblical scenes accompanied with Spanish lyrics. It displays how God used ordinary people in Biblical times and shows the faith they had in God. We have also learned how to make balloon animals and do face painting as a way to witness to the youth.
Our team met together to make a purpose statement and we wanted to share it with you. It has the initials RSVP....Represent Christ's Character, Serve Others, Verbalize God's Love, and Please Him. We want to do all we can to be examples of Christ in every aspect of what we do in Cuba.
As we have learned about Cuba's culture, our team is excited to be leaving tomorrow. We can't wait! Our journey to Cuba begins tomorrow morning at 4:00 am when we load the bus for the airport. Our first flight begins at 6:00 am from Nashville to Atlanta, then from there to Miami. We will be staying overnight in Miami, then will be leaving Miami at 8:00 am and arriving at 9:00 am in Havana! From there, our missions experience will begin.
Unfortunately, we probably will not be able to post pictures after today, as we will not have adequate internet service. We will try to at least get a message sent out once or twice while we are there, but we will just have to wait and see how it goes. Please don't worry if there are limited (or no) updates. Just know we are enjoying our trip to Cuba and experiencing many new things. We are trusting God to work in each of our lives.
Enjoy the pictures. We have a great team!
Thank you so much for keeping us in your prayers.
Deana, Chanel, Haylee, Shane, Dakota, Ben, Becky, Sam and June
