E-TEAM Mexico News Archive 2009 The Excitement Continues...
Yesterday was officially our last day of work! Yeah! Jacob was the King of Concrete. He mixed all 18 bags over the course of the week, while others mixed a lot, but received breaks when they got to help with other projects.
God has certainly been at work among us...both in us and through and it's been exciting to see what He is doing. The week of VBS saw 33 kids in attendance by the end of the week, only five of whom went to the church. The other kids were from the surrounding neighborhood. This is a result of a hot an sweaty afternoon of handing out invitations door-to-door in the neighborhood the week before. So please pray with us that these kids will understand what Jesus has done for them, and that they and their parents will be in church with us tomorrow morning. :) The balloon animals and face painting were a big hit as the grand finale! Go Team!
Today has been a cultural experience through and through. Ruth sent us on a shopping scavenger hunt in town. We divided into three groups and each group had a list things they needed to either see or buy. Attempting to communicate with others who don't speak your language is always interesting...but it was a fun learning experience with lots to see. Along the way, team members were handing out tracts. One woman even filled out the back of hers saying she had accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and found Travis to give it to him. Bud and Ruth now have Maria's information and will follow up with her. God is amazing! Not only that, but we didn't see one person throw theirs in the garbarage (aka the ground), but almost everyone was reading it over as they walked away. Our God is so good.
This afternoon was another quick trip to the beach for a break from the heat. (It's been hot! hot! hot!) and tonight is another cultural experience...a fifteenth birthday party for one of the girls at one of the churches. More on that later!
We can't believe we only have two full days left in Mexico. When we first got here we thought it would be a long two weeks, but now that the end is approaching, we're not quite sure we want the trip to end. :) Though we are very happy to be done mixing concrete!
And to all you parents reading this....we love and miss you very much!
