Missionaries Panama Steve and Judy Lytle 50th Celebration and 2nd Graduation
A lot of activities have taken place in Panama during the past week. On Thursday, January 5th Glenda Fulcher, her daughter Susan, Tom Willey, Jr. and FWBIM General Director Clint Morgan arrived in Panama. Kathleen Willey Peterson and her family were already here. The events of the 50th celebration activities began on Friday evening with a special dinner honoring the founders (missionaries and Panamanians) of the Free Will Baptist work in Panama. It was a special time of reunion for many old friends. Tom Willey, Jr. spoke about the blessing and struggles during the beginning years. A joint choir blessed the guests with special music and Stan and Brenda Bunch were honored for their years of faithful service in Panama.
Saturday morning and afternoon were dedicated to the business of the association with some 60 delegates represented. Saturday night was a special time for us because we celebrated the 2nd graduation at the seminary. Four precious young people received their BA in theology and five first year students received certificates in Bible Studies. Graduates already have places of ministry. Cirilo Mendoza has been elected pastor of the Buenas Nuevas FWB Church in Chitré. His wife Kathia also graduated. Lino Pascacio was elected as pastor of the Buenos Aires FWB Church and Benjamín Acevedo , working with the church in Chitré, is leading of two mission works.
Sunday was an exciting day beginning with the "march of the churches." Every church marched down the Chame Seminary road dressed in a designated color, carrying balloons and signs. The morning services included classes, music, special recognition of missionaries (past and present) and pastors, and the message by director Clint Morgan. The afternoon was free for visiting and talent night was on the program for the evening.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday's events were held on the campus of the FWB Seminary in La Paz de Chame, Panama. We praise God for His blessings and faithfulness during the first first 50 years. To God be the glory!
