NEHEMIAH PROJECT UPDATE #4
October 20, 2007

As we sat in front of Javier’s desk at the bank yesterday, listening to the final terms of the loan, once again our hearts were filled with thanks. The Villalba Church has the money to build! Do you know how long we have dreamed of this, prayed for this, and worked to make it happen? In the midst of a process that otherwise has seemed so difficult, it is amazing how God blesses in little and large ways. This guy had studied everything about our case, and was looking out for us and advising us about what he thought was best for us. We found out through another person that Javier’s superior had said not to grant this loan, and he used a lot of his personal relationship capital to make the loan happen. Who does that for strangers? The answer is: anyone when God is obviously working in the details of the situation. It is still hard to believe what Javier told us: “Don’t worry about the money, you have the money, the loan is yours. Just work on getting the best construction firm to build your building. When you’re ready for this money, let me know, and you’ve got it!” Wow. Thank you for praying for this —God has answered our prayers. Join with us in praise to the Lord.

We (our building committee) think we have just about decided which constructor will we recommend to the Church Council and consequently to the Villalba Church. The Villalba Church Council meets today (Saturday, October 20), and the Villalba Church business meeting to make the final decision is next Sunday, October 28. We realize that we need wisdom far beyond our own understanding. That doesn’t mean that we haven’t done our homework, because we have been doing that for a long time now. But, when it comes down to finally making that decision, with all the problems we’ve had in this process, it gives us pause. Nonetheless, we are moving forward with confidence in our Lord who has so obviously worked in so many other ways. As soon as the church has made its decision, and the constructor has agreed to take the job, we’ll let you know more details (sure to be items worthy of praise also). Please pray for the Church Council’s meeting today, and for the Villalba Church meeting next Sunday. Please continue to pray for wisdom for these important decisions. Again, thank you for praying.
