Anthony and Lea Edgmon
Emily
and Marc
Anthony and Lea Edgmon
began
ministering together shortly after their wedding in June
of 1996. Lea joined Anthony in South Florida where he
served as Minister of Youth and Music. She taught in the
church´s preschool. In April of 1997 they were appointed
to serve as Free Will Baptist missionaries to Spain.
They said goodbye to a much loved congregation in
Florida and began sharing their burden for Spain with
Free Will Baptists across the country. On October 13,
1998, the Edgmons left for their first term in Spain.
This term has been one of much learning for the
Edgmons--a new language, a new culture and new
discoveries of who God is and how He relates to His
children.
Anthony was born June 15, 1971 in Pensacola, Florida. His
family moved often during his childhood, so he claims
Arkansas, Texas and Florida as "home." He studied Missions
at Free Will Baptist Bible College (1989-94) where he was
heavily involved in the music program. He first felt a
burden to serve as a missionary to Spain during his
freshman year of college. A summer missions experience in
Panama (1994) gave him the opportunity to work in a Spanish
speaking country and better understand the realities of
missionary life.
Lea was born December 9, 1973, and was raised as a
"preacher´s kid" in the Washington, DC suburb of Arlington,
Virginia. She worked as a summer Bible teacher for Child
Evangelism Fellowship for 5 years. This experience awakened
her love for teaching the gospel to children. She studied
Elementary Education and Missions at Free Will Baptist
Bible College (1991-96) where she met Anthony. During a
summer missions trip to Ivory Coast, West Africa (1993) she
received confirmation from the Lord that He was leading her
to serve as a full-time missionary.
Anthony and Lea´s triplet daughters, Victoria Gayle,
Elisabeth Joy and Olivia Grace were stillborn October 27,
1999 at La Paz Hospital in Madrid. They are still much
loved and missed.
On a very happy Friday, August 9, 2002, Anthony and Lea
became the proud parents of a healthy, beautiful baby girl.
Emily Hope Edgmon was born at Baptist Hospital in
Nashville, Tennessee at 1:12 p.m. She weighed 9 pounds 4
ounces (4.19 kg), and was 21 1/2" (54.61 cm) long.
During their first term, Anthony and Lea completed language
studies and then ministered primarily in the areas of
teaching and preaching.. Anthony led individual Bible
studies and taught the teen Sunday School class, as well as
preached in the Villalba church. Lea co-taught Children's
Church, led Bible studies and was involved in the praise
group and women's ministry in Villalba. The Edgmons were
able to be a part of the Villalba Community Choir in
2000-2001 and met many new people in the community. They
arrived in the US for Stateside Assignment in August 2001
and returned to Spain to begin their second term in October
of 2002.
Anthony and Lea are currently living in the town of
Alpedrete. They are building relationships in this
town through participation in various community activities.
They are currently working as part of the Alpedrete Team,
along with Tim and Kristi Johnson. They have recently
opened up a Cultural Center in Alpedrete with activities
during the week and services on Sundays.
The Edgmons welcomed their son, Marc Andrew Edgmon, into
the family on April 7, 2004. He was born in Madrid,
and weighed 7 lbs. 6 oz. and was 20 1/2" long. Please
pray for wisdom for the Edgmons as they lay the groundwork
for future ministry and seek to guide their family in the
way they should go.
