Tim and Kristi Johnson
Alejandro
and Ana
Tim and Kristi Johnson
were appointed
as career missionaries to Spain by the Board of
International Missions in April of 1997. They arrived in
Spain in September of 1998 and began their ministry,
serving in the Villalba Church in the areas of music,
teaching, and leadership training. During this time,
their two children, Alejandro (2000) and Ana (2003) were
born.
In August of 2001, the Field Council began investigating
areas in which to begin a new work. After much research and
prayer, Tim and Kristi (along with Anthony and Lea Edgmon)
moved to Alpedrete. This town of 15,000 people, located in
the Sierra region of Madrid, had never had an evangelical
church in its history.
The Johnsons' first two years in Alpedrete were spent
making contacts and building relationships. This included
teaching English classes, volunteering in the children's
school, attending local cultural events, and taking walks
to meet new people.
In December of 2005, the “Centro de Encuentros”
(Outreach Center) was opened to offer activities in
English, craft times, and cooking forums to the community.
In its first two months of existence, over 100 different
people have passed through the doors. The end goal of these
“encuentros” (encounters) is to use these
activities as a bridge to reach people with the Gospel.
In February of 2006, a group of believers began meeting at
the center for worship services. Pray for the Johnsons (and
Edgmons) as they lead this new church plant to become a
thriving church in the town of Alpedrete.
